Summer Slacking

I owe you all an apology. I’ve been majorly slacking on the blog lately. Summer has gotten busy for Bright Room Studio (which is fabulous), plus our office has been a bit in shambles thanks to some new furniture we bought. This is just making projects harder to complete and making me all around less organized.

I have some new ideas of things I want to share on the blog and some new invitation suites to photograph, but until I can get things put back together around here, here’s a little summer love from my weekend in Clearlake.

Happy Birthday, Design Bright

Today is Design Bright’s first birthday! One year ago my first blog post was live. A lot has happened since then! I got married, added a little pup to the family and started a little business of my own. Design Bright got a small following and a little make-over. Not bad for one year!

So here to you, Design Bright! Maybe I’ll make you a cake today. Probably not, but this sure looks tasty!

And…WE’RE BACK

Design Bright is back and with a whole new look. I’m sure it will change again…designers are fickle like that. But I hope you enjoy the new look.

Design Bright started with an idea. That ideas has transitioned over the last year based on my passions, interests and experiences, and I wanted the design to reflect the direction it is heading. As I pursue graphic design in the stationery business, I wanted the blog to better represent my love for paper, handmade products and feminine yet classic design. I hope that Design Bright will become a little inside look at my company, Bright Room Studio, its projects and inspirations. But don’t fret. You’ll still see lots of cool things, clever products and pretty ideas right here too.

In the spirit of giving you an inside look, here’s a little inspiration board that brought me to the new redesign. I wanted bright colors along side rustic paper textures with fun touches. And, well, I just love polka dots.

Design Bright is Getting a Makeover

That’s right. Maybe it’s the feeling of spring in the air, maybe it’s the fact that we’re nearing Design Bright’s first birthday, but I think it is time for a little make over.

I’m working on a new look, so please bare with me while I get the site in tip top shape. You’ll still get to see lots of pretty and unique design ideas, with a focus on paper goods and graphic design, plus a sprinkling of home inspiration, cool products and DIY ideas. It will continue to be a place to gather inspiration and see what I’m up to.

Monday Morning Pep Talk

Sometimes you need a good pep talk. Like maybe after your home town team lost the Super Bowl? Or a pep talk to get you out of bed and off to work despite your Super Bowl hangover?

You’re not going to get the best pep talk from your boss or your mom or your coach. Nope. You’re going to get the greatest pep talk from this adorable kid. Kid President, that is.

You’ve probably seen the video. It’s so good.

His one-liners are so good and words so wise that we’re celebrating Kid President this week on Design Bright. Each day you’ll have a different piece of advice from this cutie to get you through your day. (Maybe even some downloads or desktop backgrounds of each, too). Kicking off today is a good one. Sorry, I mean gooder.

Super Bowl for the Design Savvy

The Super Bowl is just around the corner. While I’m not typically a huge sports fan, my local team is in the game, so I’m in the spirit.

Color Week is coming to an end and we’re warming things up with sassy poppy red and sweet nectarine.

Color Week: Linen and Monaco Blue

Today on Color Week we’re toning things down a bit. First off with lovely linen and followed by the bold and beautiful monaco blue. Monaco blue might not appear as a neutral, but look what a fabulous backdrop it makes for greens, teals and pinks.
